SSC CHSL 2016- Tier I Exam Over all Analysis 9th January

Hello Candidates, 

Dear Aspirants,

For the first time, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting Online Examination of CHSL for various posts. Today marked the third day for the CHSL Tier I Exam which was held in two shifts - Morning (10 am to 11:15 am) & Evening (4 pm to 5:15 pm)  under the ambit of SSC, deals with the recruitment for the posts of LDC, court clerk, postal assistants and DEO.

Thousands of candidates have appeared in the examination at various centres across the country. We have already published the analysis of Morning shift. In this post, we will provide you overall analysis of SSC CGL Tier I Exam held on 9th Jan 2017.

Let's Start: SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Analysis ( 9th January)

Similar to yesterday, today also, a few server glitches and technical issues cropped up which resulted in frustration for many aspirants. Owing to the user based reviews and the analysis of the exam, it can be said that the paper ranged from moderate to easy.

Order of the sections in the Exam -

1. Reasoning - 1 - 25 Qs

2. General Awareness - 26-50 Qs

3. Quant - 50- 75 Qs

4. English - 76-100 Qs

SSC Tier I Pattern

Now let’s begin with the Analysis part –

 I. General Intelligence & Reasoning 

Level - (Easy to Moderate)

Starting from the very first section of the paper scheme, we start off the analysis with that of Reasoning section. The questions were asked from the varying topics of

  • Number Series - 5Qs Easy

  • Alphabet Series - 5Qs Easy

  • Water Image - 2 Qs Easy

  • Picture Diagram - 2 Qs Moderate

  • Mirror Image - 2 Qs Easy

  • Matrix - 2 Qs Moderate

  • Paper Cutting - 2 Qs Moderate

  • Analogy - 1 Qs Easy

  • Classification- 1 Qs 
  • Miscellaneous  - 5 Qs Moderate

Keep in Mind:

1. The effort required to attempt the 25 questions shouldn’t have been much, given the testimony of the students who called the overall level as easy for this section.

2. The well versed would have been easily able to attempt around 20 to 23 questions within a general time limit of 15 to 18 minutes.

3. A few of the important topics that the aspirant is advised to go through are,Mirror Images, Missing numbers and Matrix based questions. These are those few topics which are easily scoring and a quick revision would help you increase your confidence, in bagging posts such as that of DEO and other related posts.

II. General Awareness 

Level (Moderate)

  • Questions from General Science - 5 Qs Moderate - 
  • Questions from History - 4 Qs Moderate
  • Questions from Geography - 3 QS Moderate
  • Questions from Indian Polity - 4 Qs Moderate 
  • Questions from Economics - 2 Qs Moderate
  • Questions from Current Affairs - 4 Qs Moderate 

Keep In Mind:

1. Moving to General Awareness section, this section was moderately leveled. Starting off from the topics of General science, the paper moved towards Polity, Economics and Geography. An important distinction this time was that it focused equally on both Static GK as well as current affairs, with 4 questions each.

2. The level of questions remained the same as found here on the GradeUp app and hence, the practice sessions here would have been of some help.

3. It is highly advisable that the aspirants definitely go through the static GK quizzes for improving their chances at selection for the posts of LDC/Court Clerk/Postal Assistant/DEO.

Note: An overall attempt of even 15 to 17 correct answers was easily achievable within the 10 to 12 minutes, you may allot to this section.

III. Quantitative Aptitude 

Level (Easy to Moderate)

  • Number Series - 2 Qs Moderate
  • Geometry & Coordinate Geometry - 4 Qs Moderate
  • Trigonometry - 3 Qs Moderate
  • SI & CI - 2 Qs Easy
  • Profit & loss - 2 Qs Moderate
  • Percentage - 1 Qs Easy
  • Time & Work - 2 Qs Easy
  • Speed & Distance - 2 Qs Moderate
  • Miscellaneous - 3Qs Moderate

Keep In Mind:

For the Quantitative aptitude section, the overall level remained moderate and that for the well-practiced and easy.

1. The questions asked were direct and to the point, without leaving any room for doubt in the answers.

2. A special focus on geometry, with special attention to coordinate geometry, trigonometry and mensuration would certainly help the aspirants to be successful in this section.

3. The DI remained easy for the past sessions. Aspirants should go through the miscellaneous topics’ quizzes for getting the extra practice and thus gaining that extra edge.

4. It is also advisable to do a follow up for the important formulae for mensuration and other scoring topics.

5. A practiced mind was imperative for the calculation part, and a good attempt of 18 to 20 questions could have been completed within 25 to 30 minutes.

 

IV. English Comprehension

Level - (Easy)

  • Cloze Test - 5 Qs Moderate
  • Antonym & Synonym - 4 Qs Easy
  • Idiom/phrases - 3 Qs Moderate
  • Spelling Correction - 1 Qs Moderate
  • Sentence Improvement - 3 Qs Easy
  • One Word Substitution - 3 Qs Moderate
  • Error Detection - 3 Qs Easy
  • Direct/ Indirect- 2 Qs 
  • Fill in the blanks - 3 Qs Easy

Keep In Mind:

1.English section too ranged its questions from easy to moderate level. Favourite topics such as Cloze test, Antonyms/Synonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Spelling correction and error detection were present among other questions.

2. A quick brush up of these topics from the past quizzes and the explanation sections would be entirely useful for the aspirants to help ace this category. Focusing on the grammar portion, and the direct indirect questions in that section, would certainly help you aspirants to clear this section.

Note: A plausible enough attempt of 18 to 20 questions could have been done in 15 to 20 minutes.

At the Last, The level of the today's exam was easy to moderate. As it is online exam some candidates are not familiar with the online exam, so it is advisable to attempt all the questions with 100% accuracy. Mark the answer in which you have full confidence. The accuracy matters a lot in Online Exam.
