The conventional/descriptive question papers(Main Examination) comprise a healthy portion of the weightage for ESE 2019 as well as for upcoming Combined State Engineering exams. So, to ignore this portion will prove to be a costly mistake to get in the final merit list. There is a lot of confusion among aspirants regarding conventional/descriptive answer writing. Due to the majority of examinations being objective type, the aspirants more often than not lag in the conventional answer writing.

Harshit Sir will enlighten on the methodology they used for Main’s answer writing which will definitely help the future aspirants. Also the queries of the aspirants will be taken up and as such clear their doubts.

Some general useful tips to cope up such situation in upcoming ESE exam.

  • There are total of 8 questions(Section A - 4Qs & Section B - 4Qs) and one has to answer 5 of them, and all these questions are further divided into subparts
  • Firstly, select the questions to be attempted as soon as one receives the question paper
  • Attempt those questions first in which you are very confident.
  • Marks will not be allotted for superficial knowledge so don’t waste time in questions which you don’t know properly.
  • Try answering questions to depth with maximum information which can be provided.
  • While attempting any theory question, write it point wise.
  • If you have some equations with the unknowns, number them and put them in a box, so that they are highlighted, making it easy for invigilator to view.
  • When you write any equation or a formula, give the assumptions made while deriving that formula.
  • If possible write a comment or an inference at the end of the solution. It will surely fetch you some marks.
  • Try to be clear in writing, up to 5 per cent of the maximum marks for the written papers can be deducted for illegible handwriting.
  • Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with proper usage of words in the conventional papers of the examination.
  • Candidates should use only International form of Indian numerals (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.) while answering question papers.
