JEE Advanced : Previous Year Detailed Analysis of Mathematics

The best way to prepare yourself for any exam is just to do the revision  on the basis of Previous Year Analysis of the subjects . Last year, the result was declared on 12th June. As the students who are preparing for JEE Main and Advanced 2017  must be having a query in their mind that how we should strategies accordingly in order to score good in JEE Main and Advanced 2017.

We at gradeup have decided to give the Section wise analysis of JEE Advanced 2016 which will surely be helpful for the students to.

This year in JEE Advance Mathematics was the toughest among all the three sections. The questions were very tricky and time taking. The topics were divided equally and unlike last year this year IIT Guwahati tried to cover almost all the topics from the subject.

Regarding difficulty, Mathematics and Physics were equally difficult. This section was lengthy and complicated. Calculus  formed the major part in this year’s JEE Advanced question paper 1. Majority of questions in Mathematics section of Paper 1 were asked from class 12 syllabus. Out of the total 62 marks, 38 marks were allotted to class 12 concepts. Only 7 questions out of eighteen were asked from class 11th.

Amongst the 18 questions; five questions were easy, eleven questions had a medium level of difficulty and the remaining two questions were difficult.

As many as 21 marks were devoted to this topic. 2-D Geometry formed the smallest portion in the question paper.

Topic-wise distribution of marks in Mathematics is as shown:-

It can be seen that the maximum portion has been allotted to 3-D Vector and Trigonometry. The percentage of the questions asked from XII syllabus was more upto 61%.
