RBI Grade-B Officer - Syllabus & Exam Pattern

With the announcement of the RBI Grade B Notification 2017 for Officer Exam, there has been constant discussion taking rounds on GradeUp & hence the repeated queries coming in through mails or in comments about a common problem;

So, we are presenting this article which will clarify your queries regarding the same.

First, let us check the Pattern of RBI Grade B Officer Exam –

Process of Selection – The overall selection will be based on following three phases –

1. Phase-I Online Examination: Objective Type – The Paper for 200 Marks consists of 4 sections: (i) General Awareness (ii) English Language (iii) Quantitative Aptitude and (iv) Reasoning, with composite time of 120 minutes.

The Pattern of the Phase-I examination is as follows:

2. Phase-II Online Examination: Descriptive Test – Phase-II examinations will consist of three papers in MCQ pattern (except Paper-I) – viz

New announcement by RBI –

It has been decided by the Reserve Bank of India that for the captioned recruitment, from Batch Year-2016, in Phase-II online examination the Paper-III will consist of only one subject i.e. ‘Finance and Management’ (The other optional subjects viz. ‘Economics’ and ‘Statistics’ have been withdrawn) . All other criteria and scheme of selection remain the same.

Note:Earlier there was optional Paper in Paper-III which had options of subjects, viz., ‘Finance & Management’ or ‘Economics’ or ‘Statistics’.

3. Interview: 50 marks: The interview will continue in its existing format.

Important Note:

1. Candidates will be required to write all the papers online.

2. Only successful candidates of Phase-I will appear for Phase-II examination on a later date.

3. Based on the results of Phase-II examinations candidates will be shortlisted for interview.

4. Final selection will be through merit lists which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in Phase-II (Paper-I + Paper-II + Paper-III) and Interview.

Brief Syllabus of the Exam - 

1. General Awareness – Questions can be asked from Banking, Finance, Economy & Current Affairs news.

2. English Language – This section will consists of questions from different topics like –Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Spotting Error, Fill in the blanks, Parajumble & Sentence Improvement.

3. Quantitative Aptitude - This section will consists of questions from different topics like – Data Interpretation, Number Series, Approximation, Quadratic Equation & Miscellaneous Questions.

4. Reasoning - This section will consists of questions from different topics like – Syllogism, Inequality, Input Output, Coding & Decoding, Puzzles, Seating Arrangement, Data Sufficiency & Miscellaneous Questions

Educational Qualifications: A minimum of 60% marks for General & OBC categories candidates (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th and 10th standard examinations. The minimum qualifying percentage or an equivalent grade for the Bachelor's Degree will be in aggregate for all semesters / years.

NOTE:

(1) Some Universities/Institutes/Boards do not award Class or percentage of marks and allot Aggregate Grade Points (e.g. CGPA/OGPA/CPI, etc.). In case University/Institute/Board defines criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into percentage of marks, the same will be accepted. However, where the University/ Institute/ Board does not define criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into percentage of marks, in the degree/passing certificates, the undefined parameter(s) would be worked out as under:

(2) Aggregate Grade Point or percentage of marks where awarded would mean aggregate over the entire duration of the course.

(3) Where the Aggregate Grade Point (CGPA/OGPA/CPI, etc.) is awarded out of a number other than 10, it will be normalized out of 10 and computed as per item (1) above.
