SSC CGL Tier II Exam 2016 : Overall Exam Analysis

As you all know that Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has conducted the exam of SSC CGL TIER –II 2016 in Online Mode. The exam was conducted over 2 days in two shifts i.e. Morning (10 am to 12:00) of Quant Section & Evening (2: 45 pm to 4:45 pm) of English Language.

Quant section analysis 

The Overall Difficulty level of the paper was similar to last year’s paper. However, Question Paper was lengthy because of calculation so it seemed tough.  Almost 50% of the questions of this section were arithmetic questions, from topics like Ratio/Alligation, Averages, Percentages, Time-Speed-Distance, Profit & Loss and Time & Work. Other major topics from which questions were asked included Trigonometry, Number System, Geometry, Algebra and Mensuration.

English section

English section of SSC CGL 2016 Tier 2 Exam was of 200 marks consisting of 200 questions. The Paper was of moderate level.  Over all, the paper was on similar lines as last year 

  • There were direct questions on synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases and One word substitutions. One can mug up all the one word substitutions, Idioms and phrases and vocabulary from the previous year books.
  • Fill in the blanks would be a cake walk for one if his/her vocabulary is good.

What is a Good Score

  • Quant: Since the paper was of Difficult level, the number of good attempt would be somewhere around 70-75. If you are able to score 160+ in this paper, then it can be a sign of you getting your dream fulfilled very soon. 
  • English: Since the paper was of Moderate level, good score would be somewhere around 150-160. If you are able to score 160+ in this paper, then it can be a sign of you getting your dream fulfilled very soon.

  • Answers could be changed at any point of time.

We understand there were difficulties faced by candidates during exam time which are given below, one by one.

Technical glitches like server crashing, computer hanging, login failure, abrupt shutting down of the computers during the test was the most commonly heard problem from the candidates spoiling their experience of an Online Exam.

Server Problem : Due to which candidate are not able to attend all the question within time because server spent 4 to 5 seconds on moving to next question which is really time consuming. Some others are claiming that server was so slow that they had to click at least 2 to 6 times with the mouse to complete one action.

Note: Those who secure the Cut Off for SSC CGL 2016 Tier II exam will be called for SSC CGL 2016 Tier III exam.  The final cut off for SSC CGL 2016 will be decided on the basis of the cumulative marks obtained in all the three tiers.
