30 Questions would be asked from this section. Important topics for this section are -

  • Reading Comprehension - You can expect 1 set (10 Questions) from this topic.  Before reading the RC, try to go through 2-3 questions first. You’ll be able to mark out the answers easily with the help of this approach. If Synonyms and Antonyms are asked, go through the sentence containing the word properly and try to understand the meaning that it conveys. You’ll be able to figure out the answer.
  • Cloze test - You can expect 5-10 questions from this topic. This topic is easier as compared to RC and is also less time consuming. While solving these questions, read the sentence first and then try to find the correct option by substituting the given options in the sentence. You should be able to eliminate incorrect options with the help of this approach. If you’re unable to answer any question, move on to the next one and come back to it once you have answered it since all the sentences are logically connected.
  • Spotting Errors/ Sentence Improvement - You can expect 5-10 questions from this topic as well. This topic is less time consuming and highly scoring if prepared well. If structure of sentence seems fine, look up the grammatical errors. Try to eliminate options while attempting this topic.
  • Para Jumbles - You can expect around 5 questions from this topic. Try to go through the sentences first to understand the gist of the passage. Look up the independent sentence since that usually is opening sentence. Go through the connecting sentences and arrange accordingly.

Reasoning Ability

35 Questions would be asked from this section. Important topics for this section are -

  • Puzzles and Seating Arrangement - You can expect 2-3 sets of Puzzles and Arrangements in the exam. Read the entire question carefully. Every detail required to form the arrangement is mentioned in the question, you just need to observe properly and implement all the facts logically. Consider all the possible scenarios which may be formed as per the given question. A lot of the possibilities will cancel out as you move forward with the question.
  • Syllogism - You may expect 5 questions from this topic. Try to use the Venn Diagram approach while attempting these questions. Do not assume any facts on your own here, stick completely to the information given in the question and proceed accordingly.
  • Inequality - You can expect 5 questions from this topic. Try to arrange all the given variables in a single line and establish the relationship between them.
  • Alphanumeric Series - You may expect 5 questions from this topic. This topic is comparatively easy and scoring at the same time. Observe the series carefully while answering.
  • Miscellaneous - Few questions may be asked from this category as well including blood relations, direction based, coding - decoding etc. Practice these topics thoroughly since they consume less time and fetch marks.

Quantitative Aptitude

35 Questions would be asked from this section. Important topics for this section are -

  • Number Series - You can expect 5 questions from this topic. This topic can be a game changer if practiced well. More you practice this topic, more easy it would be to identify the pattern of series in exam. However, do not give much time to series, If you are not able to establish relation between terms in a minute, it’s better to leave the question as a new kind of series can consume a lot of time that can be used elsewhere.
  • Simplification / Approximation - You can expect 5-10 questions from this topic. While attempting this topic, make sure that whenever an expression with multiple arithmetic operations is given, follow the BODMAS principle for calculating the final result. Rather than calculating the exact value in terms of decimals, calculate the approximate values and then perform the operations.
  • Data Interpretation - You can expect 2-3 sets of DI questions. This topic can be excelled only by practice. Attempt ratios, averages, percentages as well as DI questions to improve your calculations and speed.
  • Miscellaneous - This topic involves Problem on ages, Mixture Allegation, Partnership,Pipes and Cisterns, Profit Loss, Average, Boats & Stream, Compound/Simple Interest, Time & Work, Probability etc. Try to attempt these topics once you are done with the above topics of this section.

IPPB Scale-I exam will be conducted for the first time this year. So, we advise our readers not to fret over cutoffs. It would be wise to focus your time and energy on practising topics and improving your speed and accuracy rather time wasting your time on things you can’t predict.
