Common Admission Test is a computer-based test conducted at the national level throughout the country. The CAT will be conducted in two sessions on Sunday, 25th November 2018. The only mode for filing the CAT application form is online. Read below the important details of the Common Admission Test 2018:

CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC, ST and PWD categories).
- Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
- Candidates should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
(i) Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks.
(ii) Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with the required percentage.
(iii) Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage.

CAT Registration: How to Apply for CAT 2018 Exam Online
To register for CAT 2018, the following guidelines can be followed:
- Go to the official website of CAT at www.iimcat.ac.in.
- Register as the ‘New User’. (The registration link is active.)
- As a part of CAT application form registration, you have to fill some of the basic details like your name, email id, contact number, DOB etc.
- Once you have successfully registered, you will have to log in again to the website and complete the application.
- As a part of the application, you have to fill the required details.
- You have to upload your passport size photograph and signature (both should be of size less than 80 kb each).
- You are also required to upload the other documents like caste certificate for (OBC-NCL, SC, ST) and PWD/DA certificate, if applicable.
- Select the test center out of the given list. You are allowed to select four centers.
- You can pay for the application by any of the following methods: Credit card/debit card/DD etc.
- Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email on your registered email id. You can take a printout of the application form and keep it for your future reference.

CAT Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The Common Admission Test is conducted in the online mode. The test is divided into 3 sections namely: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation, Quantitative Ability.

- The entire test is of 3 hours where every section is of one hour.
- A candidate cannot move to the next section until he/she completes the time allocated in the previous section. Also, one cannot move back to the previous sections after the allotted time for that section is over (switching of sections is not allowed).
- There are two types of questions in the test: MCQs and non-MCQs (also known as TITA), where the candidate has to write the answer in the space provided.

- There is an allotment of 3 marks for every correct answer and one mark is deducted for every incorrect attempt. However, there is no negative marking for the non-MCQ questions.
