RRB NTPC Mains Exam Over all Analysis 17th January 2017

Today was the first day of the RRB NTPC Mains exam. With the three shifts now done, we are providing you with an overall analysis for the exam. We will also include the different questions that were asked in this same article for you to save some time.

 The three sections from which the candidates were posed question from, are as follows:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude

With a composite time of 90 minutes, and a total of 120 questions to attempt, today’s all three shifts maintained an easy level.

It is noteworthy to observe that GK has led to an increase in the overall level to moderate, as many GK questions focused on current affairs for a generous part of the section. Aspirants are again reminded to positively focus on this section to make the cut for the mains exam.

We start the analysis with the topic of, General Intelligence and Reasoning questions first.

Keep in Mind:

  • Questions based on arrangement based puzzle; discussed professions of the individuals. In another shift the puzzle was focused on circular arrangement.
  • The topic of ‘analogy’ remained popular for this second shift. You are all advised to practice this section properly, in addition to the other topics.
  • This section remained easier to tackle as only basic logical deduction questions were being posed.

 

We move to the General Awareness section now:

The overall level remained moderate for this section, similar to the first shift. This increase was owed to the greater focus on current affairs. The pattern remained similar to the first shift again.

  • Candidates faced difficulty in today’s paper owing to the lack of preparation in GK only. GK would definitely give you that extra edge towards attaining your goal of succeeding in these mains exam.
  • Current affairs are being asked till the year 2015, so you aspirants are duly requested to prepare the current affairs for acing this section.
  • Focus on polity and geography, along with awardees should be the main concern while preparing for this section.

 Few Questions that were asked in the session:

  • Given the value of sin x as 4/5. Find the value of cosec x + cot x.
  • If the internal angle of regular polygon is 150, then find the total number of sides in the polygon.
  • Find the area of a sphere whose radius is 3.5cm
  • Two buses start with the same speed 25km/h at the time interval of 8min from the same place; a woman coming from opposite direction should walk at what speed that she crosses both the buses at time interval of 4min.
  • A person is doing fraud​ by 22% when buying and selling a product, find his net profit.

Below are a few topics which were asked during this shift:

  • Data Interpretation were both based on table graph. One graph ranged for 4 questions and the other 3 were handled by the second graph.
  • Mensuration based questions featured triangles, circles and rectangles for the calculations.
  • Given the radius as 6cm, find the surface area for a sphere.
  • Given the height of the cylinder as 2cm and the radius as 1cm for a cylinder, find its volume.
  • Data Interpretation was a based on a table graph which discussed Cycle Production values.
  • Statistics marked an entry for today, although the level of question was basic.

Keep in Mind:

  • Although the level remained easy for this section, candidates are advised against to stop focusing on this section.
  • It is suggested that one must gain enough practice so as to not feel overwhelmed with the calculations to be done during the exams there.
  • Candidates must definitely brush up the basics of Mean, median and mode along with standard deviation for covering the Statistics portion of this section.
  • All the topics from the syllabus scheme were put forth today, so it will be beneficial for you all to work on your stronger suit first and then cover up the rest of the topics for making yourself better in this section.
