SBI SO Exam 2016-17 will be conducted tomorrow. SBI SO Exam will be conducted for the posts of Systems Developers, Test Lead, Tester and Statistician. The SBI SO job profile is a reputed one but the competition is tough due to the limited number of SBI PO vacancy. We are now sharing some last minute tips that we hope will help you in this exam.
SBI SO Exam Pattern -

Tests of Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language are just Qualifying in nature and marks obtained in these sections will not be included in the final merit list i.e. Marks obtained in Professional Knowledge section along with Interview will be considered for final selection. As clearly mentioned above, Professional Knowledge carries maximum weightage. However, you will have to clear these sections in order to be eligible for Interviews of SBI SO.
Take due care of the following before you appear for this exam -
- Sectional time has not been allotted to different sections, so make sure you devote proper time to each section. Although marks of Reasoning, Quant and English section will not be included in the final merit list, you still need to qualify them in order to be eligible for Interviews. So, make sure that you manage time accordingly. You can check out the previous year SBI SO cut off for a better idea.
- Professional Knowledge section is the most important section of this exam. So, do not use guess work here because scores of this section will make a huge difference.
- Make sure that you maintain proper Speed while attempting the exam and do attempt the questions accurately.

Reasoning Ability
- 50 questions would be asked from this section. Try to complete this section in 35-40 minutes.
- First, go for the less time-consuming topics. These are -

Coding Decoding
Input - Output
Blood Relations
Direction based questions. - Try to attempt Seating arrangements and puzzles after you are done with these topics since these questions are usually time-consuming and if stuck at any point, it can cost you valuable time.
Quantitative Aptitude
- This section would comprise of 35 questions. 25-30 minutes would be sufficient for this section.
- Try to attempt the following topics first in this section -
Data Interpretation (Average and Ratio based questions)
Number Series (if practised well)
Simplification/ Approximation
Quadratic Equations - Miscellaneous questions are asked individually and hence are usually time-consuming. Try to attempt these questions when you are done with above-mentioned topics.
English Language
- 35 questions will be asked from this topic. Try to complete this topic within 20 minutes
- Try to attempt the below-mentioned topics first -
Cloze Test
Spotting Errors
Fill in the blanks
Sentence Improvement/ correction - Reading Comprehension and Parajumbles usually, take up a lot of time so try to attempt them when you are done with these topics.
- If vocabulary based questions are asked in Reading Comprehension, you can attempt them first.
Professional Knowledge
- This section carries maximum weightage. 50 questions will be asked in this section with a total of 100 marks.

Do’s and Don’t for the Exam –
- Do not panic once the exam starts. Stay calm and start with the section you are most confident about.
- Do read the questions properly first.
- Do attempt the questions in the time you have assigned to each section and try not to spend more time than that.
- Do make sure that you attempt 50 plus questions.
- Do not spend too much time on any one question.
- Do not use guess work.
- Do not forget to take along the photograph (same as that on the admit card) and Xerox as well as the original ID proof with you.
