SSC CHSL 2016- Tier I Exam Over all Analysis 20th January 2017

With the second week of the SSC CHSL Tier I Exam already underway, we are here providing you with an analysis for the exam to help you better your preparation level. The online examination took place in three shifts for today's session.

Candidates sat in large numbers for these exams at various centres countrywide. To go through the actual questions first, you can refer to the earlier posts where we have already enumerated the various questions.

Let's Start: SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Analysis (20th January)

Owing to the user based reviews and the analysis of the exam, it can be said that the paper ranged from easy to moderate for all three sessions.

I.General Intelligence & Reasoning

As in the earlier shifts, the questions that featured today as well maintained an easy level. However, many candidates reported a discrepancy pertaining to Matrix based question. Rest all the topics nearly remained similar to that of the previous shifts.

  1. With the section being generously easier than the other sections, candidates are advised to practice their hands at the topics that they find tough in this section for acing this section.
  2. As in the previous shifts, a generous time limit of 15 to 18 minutes should be enough for this section and candidates must therefore time themselves accordingly.

II.General Awareness 

Encompassing all the general topics for this section, no new surprises were present in this section. This session remained easy today in comparison to the previous days' moderate level. Similar pattern to that of the last week persisted today.

Keep In Mind:

  1. Candidates reported no current affairs for the 2nd shift. However, owing to the last sessions, candidates are still advised to devote time to this topic, as the scheme of the questions keeps on changing.
  2. Focus on the general sports based knowledge and authors have been reported to show an increase and therefore, candidates must go through this topic as well to gain the extra edge in this section.
  3. For improving prospects in the selection for LDC, clerk and postal assistants’ posts, do try to brush up the knowledge on topics such as polity, general science through the various quizzes on the gradeup App.
  4. Questions are not obscure enough to be labelled as difficult and an attempt of 15 to 17 would be considered well enough. 20 – 22 correct attempts, would definitely boost your chances at selection.

III. Quantitative Aptitude 

Overall level for this section again remained easy for a majority of the aspirants but the section again was supposedly time intensive.

Keep In Mind:

  1. Basic trigonometry remained popular in today’s session. Aspirants must imperatively devote time for a brief review on the basics of the identities and formulae.
  2. SI and CI, along with profit and loss, populated the paper today as well.
  3. Although a majority of the questions remained easy today, a few were said to be calculation intensive as well.
  4. The aspirants are thereby directed to go through the basics, here itself on the gradeup App. Although direct questions are being asked, still, it’s advised to the candidate to focus on miscellaneous topics, giving it ample time for revision.
  5. As always, a practiced mind was imperative for the calculation part, and a good attempt of 18 to 20 questions could have been completed within 25 to 30 minutes.

The level of this section remained moderate today for most. Many even said that the level remained well above average for today.

  1. Please brush up the past quizzes to gain an overview on the topics of idioms and one word substitution.
  2. Candidates are suggested to improve their skills in topics such as narration and voice as these topics were popular the last week and remained so today as well.
  3. As mentioned already, boosting up your vocabulary would help you gain the upper hand over others in this section.
  4. A well attempted section for today would be 18-20.

NB: The aspirants are again advised to continually improve the level of GK, along with focus on basics of aptitude based sections from here on the gradeup app as the level of questions have been rising gradually. Timing matters the most, as with increasing competition, the deciding factor will now also depend on how much you are able to attempt correctly within those meager 75 minutes.
