Dear aspirants, we have discussed how can one prepare for bank exams while working or doing a full-time job. Working Professionals often find preparing for bank exams a daunting task. We received a lot of queries from our users about how can they prepare for and crack Bank exams while doing a full-time job in the IT sector. So, today we will help all the working professionals strategize their time and approach in order to prepare for the bank and insurance exams in a better way.

Best Way to Prepare for Bank Exams while already doing Job

The government sector offers job security, better perks, social status apart from many other benefits and thus forms an overall lucrative package for many.

But what is the one disadvantage that working professionals have over regular students? It’s clearly the Time Factor. Making time for studies is quite difficult for a working professional but that does not mean it is impossible for them to crack any exam. If planned well, even the working professionals can make time for studies.

The first step

Before you start with your preparation, the most crucial thing to understand is the exam that you are preparing for. You should be very clear with the pattern and syllabus of the exam that you are going to appear for.

You can easily find the exam pattern from the official notification of any exam. You can also go through the pattern and syllabus of different exams on BYJU’S EXAM PREP. This will help you understand the questions that you can expect in the exam.

What next?

Once you are clear with the syllabus as well as the pattern of the exam that you are going to appear for, try to do a self-analysis then. What is self-analysis? It is simply an overall analysis of where exactly you stand as far as different sections are concerned.

Understand why it is important. Once you have a clear picture of where you stand in different sections, you can focus accordingly on your strong and weak areas. Now, an important question that arises is, how do you do it? Being a working professional, you hardly stay in touch with your studies. So, try and attempt a mock test first. Once you are done with it, analyze your performance in that test. This will give you a good idea of the topics that you are strong and weak at.

Setting your Goal

Since you are already working, it will be specifically difficult for you to keep up with your studies. But you need to make up your mind firmly. If you are determined enough to clear the exam, you will have to make time on a regular basis. You will have to push yourself to make sure you do not skip a single day when it comes to studying. If somehow, you’re not able to make time for studies on any given day, make sure that you accommodate for it on another day. Bottom line, you will have to be very sincere with your studies.

How to prepare?

Now, coming to the most important thing, how should you prepare?

  • Being a working professional, you cannot set a proper timetable. So, make sure that you devote at least 2 hours to your studies daily.
  • This time should be spent strengthening your weaker areas.
  • Start with the basic concepts of different topics first. Understand the right approach to solve questions. You can do this by going through the study notes as well as Video Tutorials that are available on BYJU’S EXAM PREP.
  • Do not forget to attempt questions based on the topic that you study. You need to map your progress via mocks and quizzes.
  • Try to make time in between your office hours. For instance, in your lunch hour, you can attempt the quizzes that are posted on BYJU’S EXAM PREP. Most of the quizzes are of a maximum of 8-10 minutes, in which you can attempt 10 questions. This way, you can work on your time management right from the start.
  • Do not start with mock tests from the very beginning. First, strengthen your basics. When you feel, you have a good enough hold on the topics, start with at least 1 mock test daily.
  • Weekends will be the key to your preparation. Try to devote at least 6-8 hours to your studies on weekends. You can attempt sectional tests at that time.
  • For the prelims phase of exams, divide time for different sections beforehand and practice questions of different sections within that time frame.
  • Start preparing for Prelims & Main exam simultaneously. Don’t neglect the preparation for the Main exam. Many students keep waiting for Prelim’s result to start the main exam preparation.
  • Focus on General Awareness Section as soon as the notification arises. Current affairs will get through only when you revise them 3-4 times. Bear in mind that after the prelim result, you won’t be having sufficient time to prepare for this.
