Question 2

Direction: Read the given passage carefully and answer the questions that follow. Certain words are printed in bold to help you locate them while answering some of these.
Jumping into the workforce after graduation can be daunting. You just spent years doing everything you can to follow the guidance of counselors, meeting the expectations of your professors and magically balancing a social and academic jam-packed schedule. This should be a moment of relief, pride and enthusiasm for what’s to come next. So why do so many millennials report feeling depressed post-graduation? Even some of the highest caliber universities fail to truly prepare their students to know how to enter the workforce and set themselves to be able to afford to cover the costs of making a living on their own. Some students may have the luck of having parents or family to help them ease into their careers, but many, if not most face a very uncertain chapter in their lives ripe with the anxiety of how they will make ends meet.

If making a living is your focus, it’s good to start early on getting job experience. You don’t need to work at a glamorous high rise building to develop your resume. In fact, working in the service industry can play in your favour. It can be a place that enables you to quickly take on a more managerial role if you demonstrate the ability to be reliable and handle pressure. It may not seem like the coolest job to have but being a shift lead at a fast food restaurant or team leader in a retail store can actually accelerate your earning potential later on when you can add ______(A)______ experience to your résumé. The great news is today’s job market is ripe with opportunities if you’re willing to take some untraditional approaches, be open to the adventure of uncertainty and shift your mindset from student thinking to business thinking.
