Solutions of the above Fill in the Blanks Questions

1. Ans. D

The complete phrase is "come of age" which means to reach the age when you are legally recognized as an adult. Therefore, option D is correct.

2. Ans. B

The correct preposition to be used in the given sentence is "by". "Live by something" is a phrasal verb which means to behave according to a particular set of beliefs or principles. Example:
He argued that even criminals have a code of ethics that they live by.

3. Ans. D.

Bring about = to make something happen, to cause a situation to change
Bring in = to introduce something new such as a product or a law
Bring forth = to cause something to happen or be seen or known
Bring out = to make something apparent, to make something noticeable
Since the sentence talks about making the idea of the poem apparent to the students, the correct phrasal verb is "bring out".

4. Ans. A.

The first part of the sentence is in past indefinite tense, therefore the remaining part has to be in past tense.
Now, ‘Would had’ is not a valid word in English grammar and ‘have’ and ‘will have’ are used in present and future tense respectively.
Hence, ‘Would have’ is appropriate for this sentence.

5. Ans. B.

The context of the given sentence is regarding the military strength. Therefore, the correct adverb here would be 'strategically' as it is used in military context. It means in a way that relates to the gaining of a military advantage.

6. Ans. D.

The correct answer is 'any'. We use any with of before articles (a/an, the), demonstratives (this, these, those), pronouns (you, us) or possessives (his, their). It is also used to refer to a part of a whole. Example, I couldn’t answer any of these questions.

7. Ans. D.

In such sentences, 'whether' is used to introduce a yes/no question. 'If' is used when you have a conditional sentence and 'whether' is used when two alternatives are possible.

8. Ans. B.

Insist on doing something : to continue doing something even if it is annoying for others.
Example: Ram insists on reading late at night.
The Prime Minister insisted on raising fuel prices in the Cabinet meeting

9. Ans. B.

The correct sentence should be: The monkey angrily pounced on the bird’s nest, tore it and threw it on the ground.
The above context, has a verb that makes sense and completes the whole sentence. The word means ‘spring forward suddenly so as to attack or seize someone or something’ hence it adds meaning to the sentence which neither of the other options abide by.

10. Ans. C.

"To get/put one's house in order" is an idiom which means to solve one's own problem. So, the correct word to be used in the sentence is "get". The sentence means to say that you must solve your own problems before giving advice to others.
