IRMA 2019-21; check eligibility and other requirements!

By Sneha Shanti|Updated : September 21st, 2018

Founded by Verghese Kurien, IRMA is a premier institute in rural management education and research. It has evolved unique and remarkable curricula for its various programmes along with creating the new discipline of rural management.

IRMA offers the following three programmes:

  • Post Graduate Programme in Rural Management
  • Fellow Programme in Rural Management
  • CRM: Certificate in Rural Management

The PGDRM programme- IRMA’s flagship program- is recognised as an equivalent to a Master's degree in Rural Management by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The programme prepares young managers to undertake responsibilities pertaining to rural cooperatives and development organisations.

In our opinion, IRMA is one of the most underrated Management Institutes in India as the institute hardly markets itself. Also, it is not that the students from there establish themselves only in the field of Rural Management, in fact there are quite a few from IRMA who successfully make a switch to the so-called mainstream corporate.

The application process for the PGDRM course at IRMA has already commenced.

Last Date for applying for PGDRM 2019 - 21 (Indian Nationals) is December 31, 2018.

Process of selection

IRMA will shortlist candidates based on their scores of CAT 2018 and XAT 2019. Of the two, the higher score will be considered for the selection process.

Shortlisted candidates will be called in for the following:

  • IRMA Social Awareness Test 2019 (IRMASAT 2019)
  • Group Activity
  • Personal Interview

"IRMASAT" - The IRMA Social Awareness Test is expected to be held in February 2019. IRMASAT 2019, Group Activity and Personal Interview will all be held ONLY in IRMA campus at Anand (Gujarat).

IRMA has introduced the following two types of calls to the candidates for selection:

  • Profile based calls
  • Non-profile based calls

Candidates who score above 80 percentile in CAT 2018/XAT 2019 and fall in the Profile based call criteria are eligible to be shortlisted for IRMASAT and GA and PI process.

Candidates who score above 85 percentile in CAT 2018/XAT 2019 and fall in the Non-Profile based call criteria are eligible to be shortlisted for IRMASAT and GA and PI process.

Note: Though IRMA uses CAT / XAT scores for admission, the IIMs and XLRI have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme of IRMA.
