You give fish to a man he will be fed for a day but teaching how to catch a fish will feed him for entire life.
Skill India is a programme initiated by GoI teach and equip our workforce with skill sets desired by industries. Moreover, India has large number of unemployment not only because there are less number of available jobs but also because of low standard skills they posses which are not demanded by industries.
Furthermore, providing infrastructure for skill development in a fundamental requirement and one its consequences may be a good workforce for industries in future. Skilled workforce will produce quality products which will again increase demand for skilled labour and products. Therefore, Skill India will not only provide workforce for Make In India initiate but it will also train people for other sectors like tourism, hospitality, e-commerce etc.
To complement Skill India and to boost Make In India govt has taken following reforms:Bankruptcy law to enable easy exit for non performing companies. Introduction of GST bill to have uniform tax across nation. Digital India program for boosting ITC infrastructure, online license process for companies. Startup India, Standup India initiative for encouraging entrepreneurs. Mundra bank for Providing financial assistance to MSME. Jan Dhan Yojana enabling million to be part of Banking system.NSDM to train workforce with industry specific skills.
Reason for not successfull till now.Focus on industry revival but not on industry specific skill improvement for many years.Lengthy licensing procedures and Inspector Raj kept investors away.Fiscal consolidation was not done along with easy business policy made India not suitable for Investments.No exit policy for non performing industries.
Different taxes in different states and higher taxes in India in comparison to other developing countries.
