RRB JE Recruitment 2018-19- Online Application Concludes Today!

Railway Recruitment Board has revised no.of vacancies released in RRB JE recruitment 2018-19 notification for the post of Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer (IT), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). Total no.of vacancies have been reduced to 13487. The online application for RRB JE recruitment 2018-19 will start from 2nd January 2019 at the regional sites of RRB. 31st Jan 2019 is the last date of Railway JE online application form.

The vacancies released are provisional and may increase or decrease in total or in specific Units/Communities. RRB JE exam date 2019 is not out yet. Medical Fitness

  • Candidates called for Document Verification will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration.
  • Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of Railway staff.
  • The medical requirements against different Medical Standards for different categories are outlined below:

Modification Process

  • After final submission of ONLINE application, to make minor changes to correct errors the correction of data other than RRB, email and mobile number can be done by paying the modification fee of
    ₹ 100/- (Non-Refundable).
  • In the case of a candidate modifying his community from SC/ST to UR or OBC, he will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e., ₹ 250/- in addition to the modification fee. 
  • If a candidate is switching from Ex.SM/PwBD/Female/Transgender to UR/OBC Non.Ex.SM/Non PwBD/ Male etc., he will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e., ₹ 250/- in addition to the modification fee. 
  • The modification to the registration and application details can be done twice only.

Selection Process

  • The complete recruitment process shall involve
    • 1st stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
    • 2nd stage CBT
    • Document Verification/Medical Examination as applicable.
  • Selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of CBTs
  • English is the default language. In case the candidate wishes to choose any other language, then the same can be selected from list of languages.
  • The languages listed are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

 Pattern of Exam

1st Stage CBT (Common for all notified posts of this CEN)

  • No of Questions: 100
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answer
  • The 1st stage CBT is of screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.
  • The normalized score of 1st stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for 2nd stage exam as per their merit.
  • Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%

2nd Stage CBT

  • Duration: 120 minutes 
  • No of Questions: 150
  • Shortlisting of Candidates for the 2nd Stage CBT exam shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in the 1st Stage CBT Exam.
  • The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for 2nd Stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in 1st Stage CBT.

Document Verification

  • Shortlisting of Candidates for the Document verification shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in 2nd Stage CBT.
  • Whenever CBT is conducted in multiple sessions for the same syllabus, the raw marks obtained by the candidates in different sessions will be converted to normalized marks.
  • The raw marks for single session paper and normalized marks for the multi-session paper will be used for computing Merit Index, which is a common benchmark for generating merit for candidates from different Exam Groups.
