Territorial Army: Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Check the latest territorial army syllabus & exam pattern. The first step towards the preparation of any competitive exam is understanding its structure. So, here are the details of the Territorial exam pattern, for all the aspirants preparing for it.

Understanding the detailed syllabus of the Territorial Army will help students identify:

Indian Army will soon release the notification for Territorial Army recruitment 2021 for both Male & Female Aspirants. The exam will be online mode and will be objective type.

Territorial Army: Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Territorial Army exam consists of 2 papers. Below are the details of the list of subjects, questions and marks.

The Time allotted for each paper is 2 hours and is conducted in two sessions from 10:00 to 12:00 & 14:00 to 16:00.

Below is the Syllabus & Exam Pattern for Territorial Army:

Paper I:

Reasoning:

The question paper will be intended to assess candidates ' capacity to complete sequences making a logical conclusion based on the easy pattern of numbers, statements, figures, letters, etc. that a rational thinking individual can expect without any unique research of the topic.

  • Mirror Image & Water Image
  • Analogy
  • Classification
  • Embedded Figure
  • Paper Cutting & Folding
  • Pattern Completion

Elementary Mathematics:

  

Arithmetic:

  • Number system – natural numbers, integer numbers, rational numbers and real numbers.
  • Basic operations – addition, subtraction, division, square roots, decimal fractions.
Unitary Method:
  • Questions which are related to speed, time & distance
  • Time & work
  • Percentage
  • Profit & Loss.
Number Theory:
  • Division algorithm
  • Prime and composite
  • Divisibility testing of 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 & 11
  • Multiples and variables
  • Factorisation, HCF and LCM.
  • Euclidean algorithm, logarithms.
Algebra:Basic operations, remainder theorem, simple factors, HCF, LCM, the theory of polynomials, the relation between its roots solutions of quadratic equations, and coefficients (only real roots to be considered).

Trigonometry:

 
  • Simple trigonometric identities. Use of trigonometric tables.
  • Values of sine x, cos x and tan x, for x = 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° & 90°.
  • sine x, cosine x, tangent x when O° < x < 90°.
  • Simple cases of heights and distances.
 Geometry: 

Lines & Angles, plane & plane figures theorems on:

  • Parallel lines.
  • Properties of angles at a point.
  • Properties of Circle, including tangents and normal.
  • Congruency of triangles.
  • Similar triangles.
  • The concurrence of medians and altitudes.
  • Sides and angles of a triangle.
  • Property related to angles, sides and diagonals of a parallelogram, rectangle and square.
 

Mensuration:

 
  • Area of square, rectangle, parallelogram, triangles & circles.
  • Areas of figures which can bisect into the figures.
  • Surface area and volume of spheres.
  • Surface area & volume of cuboids, lateral surface and volume of a right circular area of cylinders.

Statistics:

  • Graphical representation-frequency polygons,
  • Collection and tabulation of statistical data, Pie charts, bar charts, etc.
  • Measures of central tendency.

Paper-II:

General Knowledge:

Knowledge of current affairs along with matters of everyday observation and experience in aspects which may be expected out of an educated person who has not made a special study of any subject. The paper will also include questions on the history of India and the geography of nature which candidates should be able to answer without special study.

English:

The paper is designed to test the aspirants’ understanding of English - like the use of words. Questions in English are from synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension, Para jumbles, error spotting, jumbled sentences, sentence correction and fill in blanks.

Qualifying Marks:

In order to qualify the exam, one needs to score 40% marks in each Paper I & II and an overall score of 50 % marks.

Note: The candidate must note that there will be negative marking in the paper for each incorrect question attempted by the candidate. 

Territorial Army Application fees  - Rs. 200 for all candidates.

Territorial Army Selection:

On the basis of applications received, shortlisted candidates will be called for a screening test by the respective headquarters of Territorial Army for a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) including the written exam.

The candidates have to submit a Resume, present employment details, salary with all the attested documents. These are attached to the original application form.

Applications of candidates, who have completed this stage of selection, will be forwarded to Services Selection Board for a personality Test (SSB Interview).

The candidates after recommendation will have to go through a medical test.
