Tips to Crack NDA 1 2020 in First Attempt

The NDA 1 2020 Exam is postponed due to lockdown and new dates will be announced by UPSC soon. The NDA Exam is the gateway to admit young officers into the defence forces

Every year nearly 4-5 Lakh aspirants appear for the NDA examination out of which less than 1% are able to qualify for the final merit list.

So when it comes to NDA, a candidate must follow a proper strategy for both written examination and SSB Interview. Here we are providing you with some excellent tips that will help you in clearing the upcoming NDA 1 2020 Examination written examination in the first attempt.

Tips to Crack NDA 1 2020 in First Attempt

Knowledge about the NDA Exam:

Since NDA examination is for the recruitment of officers, a good officer always examines the battlefield. So one must have the knowledge of the Syllabus and Exam Pattern of the examination.

 The General Ability Test consists of 150 Questions of English, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs.

1. Previous Year Question Paper:

Knowledge of previous year question paper will help you understand the level of question asked in the examination. 2. Check Cut off Marks:

The Previous Year Cut off Marks gives a very good idea about how to go about your preparation. The Cut off Marks tells you about the level of competition of the exam and helps you frame a proper strategy for it. The NDA Exam has sectional cut off marks for each paper along with an overall cut off. A candidate needs to get at least 25% marks in each paper (Mathematics & GAT).

This means that you need to get at least 150 and 75 marks in GAT and Maths paper respectively.

3. Know your Strength and Weakness:

The candidate must know his strengths and weakness before preparing for the examination. If you have time then, you can prepare for all the topics, but when time is a constraint then you must prepare selectively, one must build on his existing knowledge which is his strength and focus on it. If a particular topic is important then prepare only that portion which is asked, especially mathematics.

4. Shortcut, Tips and Mnemonics:

The Candidate while preparing for NDA exam must read about various shortcut tricks (Mathematics) which will assist you in saving time during the examination. Mnemonics and other tricks help you remember things easily. 

For eg -  

  1. Gandhiji jab South Africa se aaye unhone sbse phle CAKE cut kiya - Champaran, Ahmedabad and Kheda - Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha Movements.
  2. Important Battles of Babur - Babur aaya, Paani Piya, Khana Khaya, Chai Piya aur Ghar Chala gya.

5. Current Affairs

For Current Affairs section, one must refer to Current Affairs and important happenings of the 6 months. 6. Mock Tests:

The Preparation of the exam is incomplete without attempting mock tests. The Mock Test is an important parameter to test yourself against hundreds of your competitors in the same field. This also tells you the key areas where you need to improve.

7. Revision: 

A proper revision before the examination solidifies your preparation. It also helps you to retain whatever you have studied.

8. During the exam:

Do not be nervous and attempt questions with ease. Have Faith in yourself, if the exam is hard, then it is hard for everyone.

Beware of Negative Marking: 

  • The NDA exam has ⅓ negative marks for each wrong response. So attempt those questions in which you are sure. 
  • Leave Questions which require time and first attempt those which are easy to tackle.
