Computer Science engineers always have the fascination for the GATE exam as it provides the pathway for higher studies in the most prestigious institutes of the nation i.e IISC or IIT's. Instead of opting for jobs in govt. or non-govt organisations, candidates prefer to opt for M.Tech or PhD which carves new paths for their success. The same goal was set up by Navneet Gangwar who has secured AIR 39 in GATE 2020 Computer Science Engineering exam. In spite of having the options to opt for campus placement in NIT Silchar as he wanted to give more time to his studies without devoting for jobs.

Gradeup: Please tell us something about yourself and your motivation to appear for GATE 2020
- Currently, I am pursuing my bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT SILCHAR.
- During 3rd year of B.tech when many companies began the campus placements for the internship, I somehow realised that I wanted to give more time to my studies and doing the job after B.Tech is not my cup of tea.
- That was the time I began my preparation for GATE 2020.
- What kept me going throughout this journey were all those people who kept proving that coaching is never important to crack conceptual exams like GATE.
- I focused on standard books for preparations and for doubt clearing and study material, Gradeup was a perfect friend for me.

- I am a final year student and this was my first attempt for the GATE exam.

Gradeup:What are the challenges you faced in your preparation journey
- The biggest challenge I faced during my GATE 2020 is Motivation.
- There were times when studying for longer durations was very difficult.
- My strategy to fight this was to watch various preparation videos for a change.
Gradeup: What are some mistakes that you would have done during your preparation, that you would advise fellow aspirants to avoid?
- Not focusing on anxiety management is a mistake I did.
- It really matters to stay clear and calm during your 3 hours of the exam.
- Candidates must develop the skill to stay focussed while writing mock tests.
