GATE 2020 Topper's Interview Gutha Rishil Kumar(AIR 54 EE)

GATE EE 2020 exam was conducted on 8^th February 2020 with 93,526 aspirants. The applicants can use the GATE EE score or rank for the admissions to Postgraduate courses like M.Tech, MS, PhD in various IIT & IISc. Candidates may also use GATE score to get attractive jobs in PSUs. Every year many aspirants crack GATE with flying colors, but some of them leaves an imprint behind for others to follow. Here we have an amazing sucess story of Gutha Rishil Kumar who achieved AIR 54 in GATE 2020 EE exam. Gutha Rishil, graduated in Electrical Engineering from NIT Bhopal College in 2018. After multiple attempts and dropping a year with a strong determination he was able to ace the exam in 3rd attempt.

Gradeup: Please tell us something about yourself and your motivation to appear for GATE 2020

Gutha Rishil:

• I did my graduation from NIT Bhopal (2018 passed out).
• In 2018 GATE I secured AIR 8000 with out preparation, joined Tata Power delhi distribution Ltd through campus placement and parallelly prepared for gate 2019 and secured AIR 2200. With this I was confident enough to crack gate with a drop.
• And today I'm happy about my decision.

Gradeup: Please share your preparation strategy in detail

Gutha Rishil:

• Used to give 200% concentration in classroom coaching and then revised for 2hours at home, after completion of classroom course used to study for 7-10 hours roughly.
• I am strong in aptitude so concentrated more on technical(core+electronics subjects).

Gradeup: What would you say are the important topics and preparation sources(books/study material etc) to prepare for GATE?

Gutha Rishil:

• Entire Machines, Power systems, power electronics comes under core category.
• Machines, power electronics (P S Bhimbra) 2)power systems(Nagrath and kothari) which is must for getting good rank.
• Then under electronics (analog,digital,micro processor) just follow coaching notes.
• Controls,signals and systems,EMFT I prepared my own notes from youtube.

Gradeup: Please brief the challenges you faced during your journey

Gutha Rishil:

• Demotivation when I used to score less in test series
• My major weakness is social media but I somehow managed to isolate from social media.

Gradeup: What are the mistakes that you might have done during your preparation, that you would advise fellow aspirants to avoid?

Gutha Rishil:

I did a lot of mistakes few of them were:

• I never rectified my mistakes in test series, repeated them in final exam which cost me 10marks
• Don't start your preparation after completion of coaching instead do parallel with it.

Gradeup: What was your strategy in the last 1 month before the GATE exam?

Gutha Rishil:

• Revision and test series I revised my classroom coaching notes at least 5 times. 
• And don't waste your time in solving previous year gate problems again and again(two times more than sufficient).
• Instead of mugging up the same thing again and again try to explain it to others who need help this is never a waste of time rather the concept will inject in to your blood.
• when you feel you can't do it just relax for that day and do what you like(listening to music, watch movies,go out with friends,talk with your parents) this will boost you up with more energy than before.

Gutha Rishil:
