Hi Aspirants,

As 5G is gaining more acceptance around the world, here is an article for you.

In telecommunications, the 5G is regarded as the fifth generation basically a successor of 4G and it is deployed in many countries namely, Australia, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Thailand, United States, Saudi Arabia and many more. The service areas are being divided into cells i.e similar to previous technologies. Further, it is having a larger bandwidth and thus giving faster download speeds up to 10 Gbps (Giga Bytes per second).

Further, it is having a larger bandwidth and thus giving faster download speeds upto 10 Gbps (Giga Bytes per second).

5G brings three new aspects:

  • Big Channels (To speed up data)
  • Low Latency (More Responsive)
  • Ability to connect more devices at one time (For sensors and smart devices)

The faster internet speed is achieved due to high-frequency waves. As the frequency is increased, the range is reduced as frequency is inversely proportional to the range which results in constructing more towers for a better connection.

Also, these waves are also affected by objects in between like trees, buildings, walls, and even by rain. Therefore, it becomes very expensive to implement a 5G Network in reality.

5G Network can be set up using a number of nodes and this can also help the 5G Automated Vehicles.

The above picture represents how nodes can be formed from one place to another.

5G technology can also be used by Delivery Drones to supply a variety of articles like food, medicines, groceries etc. thus reducing the fuel consumption and time delay which will make any business profitable.

India and 5G Technology:

In India, Bharti Airtel along with Chinese multinational telecom gear, Huawei successfully conducted India's first 5G trial at Manesar, Gurgaon but the Government of India is looking forward to banning Huawei from future 5G spectrum due to security reasons. Even a lot of pressure is imposed by the Chinese Government, several other countries like the United Kingdom and Australia have expressed their concerns over cyber security in India.

Also, the US has warned India regarding this issue and mentioned that India should take its own decision on Huawei. The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued a statement that 5G is set to transform communication networks and will bring a massive boom in the Indian Economy by 2021.
