CAPF (AC) Essay Notes: Earth is not only for Humans

By Naveen Singh|Updated : May 21st, 2020

Earth is home to millions of species and an incredible diversity of organisms. All the creatures, including wildlife, have a right over it. Earth is a place for close relationships -- where plants, animals, minerals and humans are essential to each other and together constitute an integrated system.

With human's advanced tool-making, language, problem solving and social skills, and top predator status, we are considered as the dominant life form on the planet. Also, there is no doubt that human civilization has harmed biodiversity, particularly since the industrial revolution. Overfishing and hunting, the destruction of habitats through agriculture and urban sprawl, the use of pesticides and herbicides, and the release of other toxic compounds into the environment have all taken their toll. For example - The dramatic scale of this year's fire in Amazon is a result of the acceleration of deforestation. This only highlights the reality that society's exploitation of nature to meet its physical needs continues. Global warming which has impacted the mother earth never before is the result of anthropogenic activities. Every specie on living on earth has impacted by the results of global warming. Many species are either extinct or on the verge of extinction.

But, it is still not too late. Humans have the power to save nearly all habitat across the world through fair and sustainable activities. Some of those activities like - Managing urbanization properly, which will benefit many of the threatened species we share this planet with. Production of food where it is most likely to thrive should be done, which will use less water and land. Use of carbon-neutral agriculture practices and refining our fishing methods to only take what the fish populations can tolerate.

Humans, being considered as a dominant species on Earth have an opportunity to restore the balance of nature and ecology for the future, a future in which people and nature thrive together.
