Question 1: At what time, will the simple interest on a certain sum become 0.25 times the principal at 5% per annum?
A. 3 years
B. 4 years
C. 5 years

The Answer is C

Solution: 0.25 of principal = 25% of principal ATQ,
Interest becomes 5% of principal in one year.
We know that the simple interest for each year is the same.
Time required to become 25% of principal =25/5 = 5 years

Question 2: The average of the last two numbers in three numbers is 6 greater than the average of the first two numbers. Find the difference between the last and the first number.
A. 8
B. 10
C. 12
D. 14
E. None of these
The Answer is C

Solution: Let the three numbers be x, y, z.

Let total work = LCM of 12 and 30 = 60 units.
One day work of A = 60/30 = 2 units.
One day work of A and B together = 60/12 = 5 units.
One day work of B = 5 - 2 = 3 units.
One day work of A and C together = 3 units
One day work of C = 3 - 2 = 1 units.
One day work of A, B and C together = 2
+ 3 + 1 = 6 units.
Required days = 60/6 = 10 days.
