MH CET is quite a popular examination that is often eyed by the aspirants who appear for several law exams such as CLAT, AILET, and SLAT, etc. The examination stands as a pathway to the colleges in Maharashtra. It is called the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (5-year B.A.LL.B course & 3-year LL.B course).

MHCET 2023 covers various universities of Maharashtra such as Savitribai Phule University, Pune; Solapur University, University of Mumbai, Shivaji University, Kohlapur; Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University, Aurangabad, etc.

Considering the wide span of universities across Maharashtra, a total of 140+ colleges shall be participating in the MH CET 5-year law program. 

The syllabus for the MH CET 5-year law course is as follows:-

  1. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning – 40 questions

  2. General Knowledge with Current affairs – 30 questions

  3. Logical and Analytical Reasoning – 40 questions

  4. English – 30 questions

  5. Mathematical Aptitude – 10 questions

MH CET 2021 Section-Wise Tips

English Language –

  1. The section would be consisting of areas like Vocabulary, Proficiency, Phrases, Word Substitution, Sentence Improvement, and rearrangement of sentences, English Usage Errors, Spotting Errors, Idioms, Phrases, and English Comprehension.

  2. Regular practice and efficiency are a must to score the maximum marks in this section.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs –

  1. The topics included in this section are History (Ancient, Medieval, Modern), Economics, General Science, Civics, and Geography.

  2. Current Affairs is required to be prepared for the past 8 months. In-depth and complete knowledge of current affairs topics is important.

  3. Just mugging up might not turn out to be fruitful. Reading the summary of editorials will help you a lot in gaining perspective about any news or issue. is advisable.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning –

  1. This section will test the analytical abilities of the candidate and also improve the arguments and analogies.

  2. It will help to understand the relationship, structure, and logical conclusions by applying rules and principles.

  3. It will also include deductive reasoning and explaining the relationship between the person, place, and thing.

Legal Reasoning –

  1. This section will test the reasoning ability of the candidate by applying the legal principle given on the provided set of facts.

  2. This section will determine the candidate’s interest in the study and application of Law.

  3. There will be certain assumptions and propositions and the conclusion has to be drawn on the basis of the legal principle provided.

  4. Give a bare reading to the Index of the Indian Penal Code and read the chapter on General Exceptions in particular as most of the questions are asked from this section.

  5. Revise the list of Legal Maxims and Legal Terms that you have prepared.

Mathematical Aptitude –

  1. The sole purpose of this section is to check the numerical ability of the candidate. The mathematical questions would be from the 10th standard, from the topics which included Profit and Loss, Percentage, Time Speed and Distance, Ratios, Algebra, and Average.

  2. To excel in this section, the mathematical concepts ought to be clear and calculations should be fast. This can be achieved through constant practice.

  3. It not compulsory to attempt all the questions but it’s important to correctly attempt the questions. This section has a huge role to play in your time management for attempting the rest of the questions.

  4. The questions asked will be of a preliminary level which can be solved easily.

  5. The applicants must not indulge themselves in new concepts just before the examination; instead, revise the basic formulas and concepts that you are familiar with.

  • As there is no negative marking, try maximizing your score by attempting maximum questions
