CTET 2020: CTET is scheduled to be conducted on 31 January 2021.

Mathematics is a methodical application of matter.

Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. Certain qualities that are nurtured by mathematics are the power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills. The group of sciences (including arithmetic, geometry, algebra, calculus, etc.) dealing with quantities, magnitudes, and forms, and their relationships, attributes, etc., by the use of numbers and symbols.

###ANSWERS###

1. Ans. A. The study of mathematics helps in developing in a person the qualities like truthfulness, honesty, justice, reality, correctness, patience, self-control, self-reliance, self-confidence, punctuality, simplicity, precision, firmness etc. These qualities contribute to building and developing the moral character of people.

2. Ans. B. Marshall.H.Stone, an American mathematician said, ”Mathematics is the study of the abstract system built of abstract elements. These elements are not described in a concrete fashion.”

3. Ans. B. 3: 5 :: 6 : 10

3 and 10 are extremes, while 5 and 6 are means and the fourth proportional is 10.

 4. Ans. D. The process required to solve the problem is considered through which students can achieve the expectations of mathematics is visualization. It is an important process in algebra for upper primary classes. It means that the image of something in your mind will appear. Algebra is related to overview activity or the frame and plan. It can be presented with the relatively simple operation, for example, can be displayed as a product table, similar to the multiplied area.

5. Ans. B. Cognitive validity implies that the content should be age-appropriate so that children can understand them. The way of the transaction of the content should be according to the level of the child. Up to the upper primary level, the basic concepts of light are transacted qualitatively taking concrete examples from their surroundings. At the secondary stage, the ability of logical thinking and abstract reasoning develops.

6. Ans. D. All above are the ways to accelerate gifted children.

7. Ans. A. Parents should be aware of the process followed to diagnose special needs or at-risk children with learning disabilities. The following information details the 10 major steps followed when determining whether a child has a learning disability:

Step 1. Child is identified as possibly needing special education and related services.
Step 2. Child is evaluated.
Step 3. Eligibility is decided.
Step 4. Child is found eligible for services.
Step 5. IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting is scheduled.
Step 6. IEP meeting is held and the IEP is written.
Step 7. After the IEP is written, services are provided.
Step 8. Progress is measured and reported to parents.
Step 9. IEP is reviewed.
Step 10. Child is reevaluated.

8. Ans. C. According to “Bansho” means board writing in Japanese. Its purpose is to organize & record the mathematical thinking derived from and collectively produced by students on a large size chalkboard or dry erase board. The use of mathematical figures, expressions & diagrams is included in board writing. As the chalkboard is a written record of the entire lesson, the students and teacher can have a whole view of the class’s mathematical discussion throughout the lesson.

 9. Ans. C. This technique is based on the principle of activity and individual differences. This technique develops the habit of self-study in students. In this method, the teacher serves as a guide. The teacher presence makes the atmosphere more disciplined. Both the teacher and child remain active throughout the study. The teacher solves his individual problems by supervising his task as a friend, helper and guide. In this study, the mistakes and difficulties of the children can be removed on the spot.

10. Ans. A. According to the RCEM approach, the correct order is— Input, Process, Output
