###ANSWERS###

1. Ans. D. Making fun of any child may let them lose the confidence and children may not be able to participate in any activity in the classroom.

2. Ans. A. Dyslexia is a learning disorder in which a learner is not able to read the characters properly. It is caused by both genetic and environmental factors. Therefore we can say that a common, developmental reading disorder is Dyslexia.

3. Ans. D. There are different roles has to be played by the teacher; sometimes teacher as a facilitator, teacher as an instructor, teacher as a friend etc. but there is another role also for a teacher that is a teacher as a motivator. Motivation in teaching is an essential process of effective teaching. Meena is a young girl who may have developed a disinterest in education and as a teacher, it is your duty to motivate and encourage her towards learning, hence, describing her the benefits of study might be a motivator for her to study.
Here, option D is the correct answer.

4. Ans. D. The correct answer is option D, i.e., both A and B. Passive form of listening is when there is no need for analysis or judgment by the listener. It is one-way communication and the listener does not provide any feedback to the speaker. The listener may or may not understand the message delivered by the speaker. The example is given in the question also comes under appreciative listening. In the examples, both Aradhya and Kavya are neither interested nor concentrating on what the speaker is saying. They both are engaged in passive listening.

 5. Ans. D. The correct option is D. Comprehensive listening is used to understand the message delivered by the speaker. Appreciate listening is used to praise or enjoy the content delivered by the speaker. Critical listening is when the listener analyses and evaluates the message of the speaker. Relational listening is when one listens to bind the community and build a better understanding between one another.

 6. Ans. D. The correct answer is option D, i.e., all of the above. The use of suitable pitch is known as intonation. Intonation can change an assertive sentence into interrogative one. Proper intonation also serves a grammatical purpose in distinguishing one type of phrase or sentence from the other. For example, when your pitch falls at the end of a sentence saying, “You are an actress” means that the sentence is an assertion. If the same sentence ends with a rising pitch, “You are an actress?”, then the sentence becomes a question. Intonation helps one to express his/her emotions with clarity.

7. Ans. B. The branch of semantics can be categorized into two types: Logical Semantics and Lexical Semantics. When meanings of words are studied using sense and reference, it is called logical semantics. When the meaning of words and their relationship with each other is analyzed, it is called Lexical Semantics.

8. Ans. A. The correct answer is option A, i.e., translational approach. The translational method of teaching is also known as grammar or grammar-translational approach of teaching. It is the classical approach to language teaching. This approach was used to teach Greek and Latin languages. This approach focuses on the correct use of grammar. It is used where we feel the need to learn a second language. It uses the native language to teach the target language. In this method, words, phrases or sentences of the English language is translated into the mother tongue for understanding.

9. Ans. B. NCF 2005 considers multilingualism, especially in early childhood, as a resource and possibility rather than a challenge of diversity. Multilingualism at an early stage is an efficient idea as small children are capable of learning more than one language. It is found that children with knowledge of more than one language show more creativity and develop better problem-solving skills.

 10. Ans. A. The correct answer is option A, i.e., ‘natural method’. This approach developed by Tracy Terrell focuses on similarities between L1 and L2, where the learners are exposed to meaningful language but are not forced to produce it. The focus is comprehension and not production thus developing basic communication. The method does not emphasize on conscious grammar learning and explicit error correction of students. It believes in naturalistic language acquisition in a communicative environment.
