Question 1

There are three friends Chantu, Mantu and Bantu. Chantu can fill a container in 12 minutes. Bantu can fill 3 containers in 54 minutes & Mantu can fill 30% of a container in 1.8 minutes. All the three friends start filling a cistern alternately, 1 minute each starting from Chantu, Bantu and Mantu in sequence. If cistern is filled after  hours, then find the volume of cistern if the capacity of container is 15 liters.

A takes 4 hrs to complete one-third of a job,B takes 3 hrs to complete one-sixth of the same work and C takes 5 hrs to complete half the job. If all of them work together for 3 hrs and A and C quit, how long will it take for B to complete the remaining work done.

Wine W is produced by mixing Alcohol X and Alcohol Y in the ratio of 3 : 5. Alcohol X is prepared by mixing two raw materials, A and B, in the ratio of 2 : 3. Alcohol Y is prepared by mixing two raw materials, B and C, in the ratio of 2 : 1. Then the final mixture is prepared by mixing 1440 litres of wine W with water. If the concentration of the raw material B in the final mixture is 55%, how much water had been added to wine W?

A container contains a mixture of milk and water in the ratio 7 : 3. 80% of the mixture is taken out and 24L of water is added, then the concentration of milk in the mixture becomes 60%. Find the initial quantity of milk in the mixture.

A vessel contains 25 liters of a mixture of wine and water in the ratio 3:2. 10 liters of the mixture are removed and replaced with an equal quantity of pure wine. If the process is repeated once more, find the ratio of wine and water in the final mixture obtained?

P, Q and R start a business by investing a certain capitals. P receives 9/10 of the profit and Q and R share the remaining profit equally. P’s profit is increased by Rs.270 when the total profit rises from 12% to 15%. Find the total capital invested by Q and R.

Ram works twice as fast as Qureshi, whereas Ram and Qureshi together can work four times as Payal can. If Ram, Qureshi and Payal works together on a job, in what ratio should they share the earnings?

A , B , C can do a piece of work in 10 hours . A and B can both do the same work in 12 hours and B and C together can do the same work in 20 then find the time taken by A and C together to complete the work.

A pump can be used to either fill or drain a tank. The capacity of the tank is 3600 m3. The draining capacity of the pump is 10 m3/minute higher than its filling capacity. What is the draining capacity of the pump if it takes 12 minutes more to fill the tank than to drain it?

There are two pipes A and B each can fill the tank in 20 hours. Both pipes are opened together and due to leakage it was found that it takes 2 hours more to fill the tank. If the tank is full then in what time leakage will empty the tank.

Pipe A and Pipe B together can fill a tank in  hours. If pipe A fills one – fourth of the tank in (x – 2) hours, and remaining tank is filled by pipe B in (x + 1) hours, then find the value of x.
