Brief History of National Film Award: The National Film Awards are India's most prestigious film awards ceremony. It has been administered by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973, along with the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama. Every year, the winning entry is chosen by a national panel nominated by the government, and the award ceremony is held in New Delhi, where the President of India delivers the awards. The National Film Festival is then inaugurated, with award-winning films being screened for the general public.
