Despite getting a good post through SSC CGL 2017, he didn’t sit back and relax but kept on preparing until he gets his desired post viz. Inspector in Income Tax/ Central Excise.
Today, we present the success journey of Anmol Jain and how BYJU'S Exam Prep helped him clearing the SSC CGL Exam through his own words.

Q. So, Anmol, what motivated you to prepare for SSC CGL Exam?

A. I always wanted a government job not because my parents told me so but I really liked the work-life balance and social reputation you get after you have cleared SSC CGL Exam.
Though I have cleared SSC CGL 2017 and SBI PO, however, I didn’t get my desired post viz. Inspector in Income Tax/ Central Excise so I kept on my preparation.

Q. Anmol, can you tell us about your educational background?

A. Sure, I completed my graduation in 2017 with a BTech degree and then started my preparation for SSC CGL.

Q. Anmol, what were your learnings when you first attempted the SSC CGL 2017?

A. I attempted both SSC and Bank exams and found that the difficulty level of the SSC exam is quite easy compared to the Bank exam. However, SSC is considerably competitive than Bank exams as around 20 to 25 Lakhs register for this exam, and 10 to 15 Lakhs candidates appear. So, in my early days of preparation, I was unaware of the competition level and important & repeated topics of SSC.

Q. Anmol, what were your shortcomings and how did you improve on them?

A. I had a good hold in Quant and English part because I did my graduation in Engineering. However, I needed to work on General Awareness (GA) and Current Affairs (CA) section.
To improve on GA & CA, I regularly read the study notes which I got from a friend and attempted as many quizzes as possible where I could get my hands-on.

Q. Anmol, which all study material did you followed in your preparation?

Q. When I was preparing for SSC CGL 2018, I started my preparation with previous year question papers, then I followed NCERT books especially the Science and Maths books from 8 to 10 Class. I used to read a newspaper every day to enhance my reading skills, vocabulary and Current Affairs part.
And as I mentioned earlier, I used to read my friend’s notes for GA, and for Maths, I used to attempt a lot of quizzes and analyze the solutions after attempting them.

Q. Anmol, did you create any special strategy for SSC CGL Tier 2?

A. Not particularly, I had prepared well before Tier 1 itself, so I had an upper hand in my preparation. For Tier 2 you get 1 to 3 months and in that duration, I revised my previous notes like Grammar rules, vocabulary, Maths concepts, formulas, short tricks, etc. and made a target to attempt at least 1 mock every day and analyze them properly.

Q. Anmol, when did you got to know about the BYJU'S Exam Prep platform?

A. When I was preparing for my Bank exam, I read a few articles of BYJU'S Exam Prep which I found through Google and that’s when I got to know about the BYJU'S Exam Prep. I later downloaded the app and started attempting the free ‘Daily Quizzes’.

Q. Anmol, how BYJU'S Exam Prep help you in your preparation?

A. BYJU'S Exam Prep played a major role in preparation I used to attempt a lot of mock test for both the Bank and SSC Exam. I believe BYJU'S Exam Prep mock test are very realistic when it comes to the difficulty level of the exam and giving you the real feel of the examination.

Q. Anmol, what’s the success mantra that inspired you all through your preparation?

A. Though I don’t have any success mantra but I would say what every successful person says which is ‘hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard’ so give your best every day leave the rest to God.

Q. Anmol, what would you suggest to our fellow aspirants who are preparing for SSC CGL?

A. Look, if you are preparing for SSC CGL then you have to follow 2 rules:

  • Keep going whatever the situation it may be
  • Always remember rule number 1
