Eligibility for a career as an Air Force Officer:
- The first choice is to enroll at the National Defence Academy in Pune, which primarily trains cadets in three branches of the military. A competitive review is held twice a year, in February and September, to get through NDA. Only unmarried male applicants under the age of 19 are eligible to apply. They must have completed a class 12th or equivalent test with physics and mathematics as required subjects. Cadets for the three services are trained at the National Defence Academy in Pune. - Candidates interested in being technical officers in the Air Force should apply for the Short Service Commission. Candidates must have completed the AFCAT examination and have a bachelor's degree in some area. Male and female applicants between the ages of 20 and 24 are eligible to apply.
What types of job roles performed by an Air Force officer?
The Indian Air Force offers a variety of Air Force Officer positions to eligible applicants. Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Branch are the three major classifications. The following are some of the most common types of air force officer jobs:
Pilots | In the Indian Air Force, they are mostly assigned to flying duties. Their responsibilities can range from flying fighter planes to supplying supplies during natural disasters, among other things. |
Fighter Pilots | Fighter Pilots are highly trained and qualified to shoot down enemy aircraft and destroy ground targets in enemy territory from the air. Their primary responsibility is to protect and defend one's territory from intruders. For pinpoint bombing and target acquisition, they are fitted with electronic equipment, radars, and cameras. Since they are tasked with such big duties, it is considered one of the most prestigious positions in the Air Force. |
Navigators | Navigators are Air Force personnel who use navigational equipment, radars, and other optical instruments to guide pilots to the target and release the bombs. Their primary responsibility is to aid and guide the Pilots in navigation. |
Transport Pilots | They are in charge of transporting men, materials, and explosives such as bombs and weapons to their destinations. Aside from that, they transport defence forces, equipment, and ammunition from one battleground to another. |
Air Traffic Control Officer | The task of an air traffic control officer is to provide control and advisory services to pilots to ensure their safety and protect them from bad weather. |
Logistic Officer | The logistics officer in the Air Force is in charge of logistics support such as aircraft spares, mechanical transport, and fuel, among other things. |
Education Branch Officer | In the Air Force, the education branch officer creates training programs that integrate the most recent technological advancements. They also create training programs for the police. |
Metrology Branch Officer | They undertake experimental work such as weather forecasting using the most up-to-date technology and methods, as well as conducting related research. |
Air Force Officer Pay Scale/Salary:
Officers in the Air Force begin collecting money before they are commissioned. Air Force Officers are paid Rs. 21,000 a month during their final year of professional training. An Air Force Officer receives several benefits in addition to their regular pay, including a flying allowance, a technical allowance, military service pay, and others. Officers in the flying branch/technical branch and ground duty branch receive the following salaries:
