RRB NTPC Result 2021 Update: Expected Candidates will be Shortlisted from CBT 1

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has so far successfully conducted the six phases of Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) Computer Based Test (CBT) of first stage or CBT-1. The exam was conducted from December 28, 2020, to April 8, 2021, in multiple phases for around 1.19 crore candidates, until now. However, CBT-1 for over 7 Lakh candidates is still pending which was halted due to the increase in cases of Coronavirus.

As the CBT-1 for around 95 percent of total registered candidates is done, the board will soon release the exam dates for the RRB NTPC CBT-2 as well as for the CBT-1 for remaining candidates. Hence, if you have already appeared in the CBT-1 then it’s time for you to pull up your socks and start your preparation for CBT-2 as the exam is expected to be conducted from the first to the third week of August, tentatively.

RRB NTPC 2021 CBT 2 Number of Candidates to be Shortlisted

Out of a total of 1.26 crore candidates, the board will shortlist a total of 7,04,160 or around 7 Lakh candidates. This is because the board had earlier notified that it shall shortlist 20 times the total number of vacancies available, and the total available vacancies are 35,208 (tentative). This means out of every 100 candidates appearing in CBT 1 only 5 to 6 candidates will be selected.
It should also be noted that the board will use the normalized marks scored in CBT-1 by the candidate.
Looking at the exam statistics of RRB NTPC 2016, where only 4 to 5 candidates were selected out of 100 candidates. Candidates now are in a better position due to the increase in the vacancy by 150 per cent as well as the rise in the selection ratio. Candidates should also note that the exam difficulty level of CBT-2 shall vary as per the 7th CPC viz. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. All posts which fall under the 7th CPC will have a common CBT-2. If candidates as per their educational eligibility criteria qualify for more than one posts of 7th CPC, then they have to take the common CBT-1 and corresponding CBT-2 for each level of 7th CPC.

How to Prepare for RRB NTPC 2021 CBT 2?

The RRB NTPC CBT 2 and CBT 1 has the same number of sections which are Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness but with an increased number of questions. Even for CBT 2, the difficulty level of questions is in the range of Moderate to Difficult and cut off may go from 75 to 90 depending on posts to posts.
