The Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam Pattern is the most crucial aspect an aspirant considers before beginning the exam preparation. As informed by the Maharashtra Police Department’s latest GR, there is no change in the exam pattern of the Written Test.

Maharashtra Police Service Exam Pattern

It is recommended to be well-versed with the selection process before applying for the Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam. A candidate needs to understand the nuances of the exam pattern and other details before approaching the exam, as the chances of the selection increases if all the requisites are well comprehended.

The Maharashtra Police Bharti Department is carrying out the Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam for Police Constable. The selected candidates are required to serve across the Maharashtra State. To be selected as a Police Constable in the Maharashtra Police Bharti, a candidate needs to qualify for two of the screening tests: 

Stage I: Written Exam and Stage II: Physical Test

I. Written Test 

The written test is the first screening test for the recruitment of Maharashtra Police Bharti. It includes one paper to be conducted in the objective mode. There will be 100 Qs with 100 marks with a time duration of 1 hour 30 mins (90 mins). Weightage of Written Test is as follows:

To be called for a physical Test, a candidate needs to have secured a minimum of 35% marks of belonging to the Unreserved category and 33% marks in case he/she belongs to some reserved category. The candidates called for the Physical Test are in the ratio of 1:10 of the number of vacancies advertised as per the respective categories. 

For example, in case there are 10 vacancies in the Scheduled Caste Categories and 5 vacancies in the Scheduled Tribe Categories, then 100 (10X10) candidates will be enlisted in the Schedule Caste Category and 50 (5X10) candidates for Scheduled Tribe Categories, respectively. 

Note: All the candidates in the Scheduled Caste candidate at 100th rank shall be eligible to appear for a physical Test. Likewise, all the Scheduled Tribes category candidates who have secured the same marks as the Scheduled Tribes candidate raking 50th rank will be eligible to appear for a Physical Test.

II. Physical test

The physical test will be carrying 50 marks, and various tests assessing the physical fitness will be conducted by the Police Department. There are long and short runs of 1600m and 100m running for the male candidates and 800 m running, and 100 m running for the female candidates, including the shot put. The details are as follows:

a. Physical Test for Male Candidates

 b. Physical Test for Male Candidates

The Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam is also known as the Maharashtra Police Constable Exam, and the post of Police Constable is also known as Police Sipahi and Karagruh Sipahi. The exam is conducted across Maharashtra State in all the major districts. The major districts are as follows:

Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Akola, Ahmednagar, Buldhana, Washim, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Osmanabad, Nanded, Parbhani, Nandurbar, Hingol, Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur and Satara.

The application of the Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam is in the online mode, and the exam will be conducted in the offline mode.

  • Only a General Category candidate who secures 35% marks in the written test will be called for a physical test. The qualifying candidates called in the ratio of 1:10 for the physical test, i.e., ten times the number of vacancies advertised.


  • The physical test is conducted for a total of 50 marks. The breakup of marks is as follows: 30 marks for the long run, 10 marks for the short run and 10 marks for shot put.

  • A female candidate appears the same written test of 100 marks for 90 mins. The variation is in the screening for the physical test, i.e., she is assessed for 50 marks and needs to appear for 800 m running, 100m running and shot put.

  • The application form for the Maharashtra Police Bharti Exam is to be filled strictly through online mode. But the candidate is allowed to appear for both the written and physical test in each of the major districts through an offline mode.
