UGC NET Exam Pattern for June 2023

The pattern of UGC NET Exam 2023:

• This has two sections i.e.

1. Paper-I.
2. Paper-II.

• Both papers (paper I and Paper II) consist only of objective types of questions.
• No gaps between the 2 papers.

Paper I: 

• Paper 1 contains 50 questions each carrying 2 marks i.e. 100 marks in total. 
• It will consist of topics from Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Comprehension, Communication, Divergent Thinking, and General Awareness. All the questions are compulsory.

Paper-II: 

• Paper 2 contains 100 questions each carrying 2 marks i.e. 200 marks in total.
• Paper 2 will ask questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. For example, if a candidate chooses electronic science, he/she attempts Paper II which has questions from electronics only.

Other Important Information: 

• The total time for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is 3 hours. There will be no break between the tests.
• There are no negative marks for an incorrect response.
• No marks will be allotted for unanswered/marked for review questions.
• If a question is found to be incorrect, the benefit of marks will be given to only those candidates who attempted the question.
• The cutoff is determined for each individual subject.
• The cutoff will be determined after scoring a maximum of 300 points (Paper I and Paper II).

Mode of UGC NET Examination:

• NTA UGC NET June 2020 will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only.

UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus

Section Wise TIPS :

• Teaching Aptitude - The sole purpose of this section is to assess prospective teachers' understanding of the nature of their craft, ie the teaching and student support system. Although the problems are of the MCQ type, the solutions to these problems can sometimes be complicated.
• Research Aptitude- As the name suggests, this part aims to assess the candidate's research ability and understanding of the research. This part is quite simple for most candidates because most of you have experience writing your own research papers after and after graduation. 
• Comprehension-  In this part, you will get an article and the questions that arise will come from the article itself. You just need to read the article very carefully and answer the questions. If you read this article carefully enough, you will get a perfect score in this unit. A little grammar will help.
• Communication-  This part assesses candidates’ understanding of communication systems and channels. This section also introduces the communication modes and methods in detail. 
• Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude- This unit is a bit complicated and reading the questions carefully is the key to getting a high score in this unit. Try to find techniques to solve different kinds of problems. Mentioned, always leave the issue of seating arrangements for last. 
• Logical Reasoning- This section is quite extensive, and you will find at least 6-7 questions in this section. As in the previous unit, careful reading and understanding of the problem is the key to success here. (Note: You must have spent a lot of time reading your core subjects, but by giving 5-10 minutes a day, from now on, in each unit, you can bridge the gap between choice or abandonment.) 
• Data Interpretation-  The unit is quite simple but time-consuming. As you know, once you find out the correlation between the data, it is just a simple calculation. There are no shortcuts to solving DI. Avoid using this unit later in the exam. Remember, all questions have the same score, do not waste time on any question.
• Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-  This unit covers the basic knowledge of the Internet and its related terminology. In the modern era where computers and mobile phones are everywhere, this section will not cause you so many problems. Take a look at the latest terminology related to computers and their peripherals, and you can start learning this part.
• People, Development and Environment- This unit covers a whole lot of topics be it environmental, cultural, regional, national or global. However, climate change, environment, and sustainable development are the key topics of this unit. If you go through a few of the previous year’s papers, it will be enough to take this unit on. Also, current summits related to environments are a must-visit topic of this section. 
• Higher Education System - This is the last unit of paper 1. Here, you will assess your responsibilities as a teacher in the university or society as a whole. This section focuses on the historical importance of teaching, educational institutions and learning programs.
