Does this "4-Month Course System" actually Fulfill the Needs of the SSC Aspirants?
Types of Aspirants
There are different categories of SSC aspirants. They are following
- Non- Math Background Students
- Non-English (Hindi) Background Students
- Students from different streams
- Metro cities v/s Small Town villages
Students of each category will have different requirements and expectations from the coaching classes. It is not possible to fulfill each and every need of every aspirant in the short duration of 4 months.
Analyzing the need of the different students, one thing can be surely said is: Short duration of 3 - 4 months of SSC Course is sufficient to clear the basic concepts but not sufficient to crack the SSC Exams.
Shortcomings of 4-Month Model of Coaching Classes
Based on our discussion over all the aspects, the following are the shortcoming of the 4 month model of caching classes:
Covering just the Topics of Syllabus: In this short duration of 4 months, coaching classes just complete the basics of the topics of the syllabus. However, SSC Exams demand more than just the basics of the subjects. Covering the syllabus does not guarantee selection in the exam.
No Time for Revision: Within the limited time of the courses, it is not possible for the coaching classes to revisit the important chapters of the syllabus to revise important concepts. Revision is a crucial aspect of the preparation which is easily missed by the coaching classes.
No Sufficient Time for Practice: SSC Exam preparation is more about the practice and less about mugging up concepts and formulas. Within the short span of 4 months coaching classes provide a limited number of tests in their curriculum and the rest is being expected from the students. Those who attempt more mock tests perform better than the rest.
No Focus on Improving speed and Accuracy of students: There is no focus on improving the speed and accuracy of students because improving speed and accuracy would require time for practice which is not possible because of time constraints.
How did the Fake Notion of Cracking the SSC exam in 4 Months Start?
Let us take a step back and see, How did Wrong Culture of 4 Months SSC Coaching Classes Start?
This "4-month SSC coaching classes" model started first in Offline coaching and then followed by Online coaching classes.
Let us try to understand this with the help of the examples of two offline Coaching A and Coaching B. The Operational expenses (rent, electricity, and other stuff) and Coaching Fees of both the coachings are exactly the same. Both the coachings can accommodate 50 students each. Coaching A still able to make more profit than Coaching B.
How?
Let us check it
- Offline Coaching A: 3 Batches of 4 months duration (each). Coaching A just completes the syllabus and teaches basics and does not give sufficient time for practice.
Total Income of Coaching A= 50 students × 3 batches
- Offline Coaching B: 2 Batch of 6 months duration (each). Coaching B provides sufficient time for each topic and gives time to practice the questions.
Total Income of Coaching B = 50 students × 2 batches
Clearly, Coaching A makes more profit than Coaching B. Now looking at this, Coaching B also started following the same pattern and started with 3 batches per year of 4 months duration as it gives more profit. This is how this trend of 4-Months SSC Coaching Classes Started in Offline coaching.
In the absence of any other course model, online coaching classes also started following the same and started with 4 months model.
Now that We have established and understood the fact that: A Minimum of 1 Year of Time is required for SSC Exam Preparation. Hence Proved.
How to Divide 12 Months Preparation Time?
The next question that arises is: Out of 12 months, 3 - 4 months of time goes in what do you do in the remaining time?
Option 1: Revision
Option 2: Memorizing Formulas and rules
Option 3: Attempting Mock tests and PYSPs
Option 4: All of the Above
Actually, the correct answer is Option 4. It’s all three: Revision. Memorizing Formulas and rules, Attempting mock tests.
Second Aspect of Preparation: Practice Practice and Some more Practice
All three are part of the second most important aspect of the preparation is Practice. Yes, that’s right. It’s the practice. Clearing the Basics is not just enough.
Practice is the aspect that makes all the difference.
Toppers are the ones that strike the right balance between the Practice and Basics
Toppers Success Formula
40% (Basics) + 60% Practice = Whole 1 Year Preparation Time
So, what is the Right Preparation Strategy to Crack the SSC Exams in 1 - 1.5 years......?
