ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting

  • The meeting of Foreign Ministers of ASEAN countries has been held in New Delhi.

key points:

  • India will host a special meeting of foreign ministers of ASEAN countries, which is the first time India has hosted this meeting.
  • Along with the meeting of Foreign Ministers of ASEAN countries, the 12th edition of the Delhi Dialogue was also organized in New Delhi.
  • The theme of the 12th edition of Delhi Dialogue is "Interconnecting the Indo-Pacific Region".

Migration in India 2020-21 Report

  • According to the Migration Report 2020-21 in India, from July 2020 to June 2021, 0.7 percent of the country's population were 'temporary visitors' to households.

key points:

  • In India, the India Migration Report is released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI).
  • 'Temporary visitors' are classified as those who have arrived after March 2020 and have stayed in their home for 15 consecutive days or more but less than 6 months.
  • According to the International Organization for Migration, a migrant is defined as any person who is moving or has moved within an international border or state away from his place of residence.
  • International Migrants Day is observed annually on 18 December by the United Nations with the aim of raising awareness about the challenges and difficulties of international migration.
  • Of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the 11th Sustainable Development Goal includes targets and indicators relevant to migration or mobility.

First National Conference of Chief Secretaries

  • The first three-day National Conference of Chief Secretaries of the States was inaugurated by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.

  • More than 200 delegates and experts from the Centre, States, and Union Territories have participated in the first National Conference.
  • Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will preside over the conference.
  • The main objective of this conference is to discuss the implementation of a new education policy, governance and crop diversification, and self-reliance in agriculture.

Department of Economic Affairs Training Program

  • A training program has been organized by the Department of Economic Affairs as part of the Capacity Building Initiative in the infrastructure sector in collaboration with IIM Kozhikode.

key points:

  • This 5-day (14 to 18 June) residential training program is being organized in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management at their Kozhikode campus.
  • A capacity-building plan has been prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs in collaboration with the capacity-building Commission, with the objective of augmenting relevant capacities in the extended ecosystem of the concerned Ministries, State Governments and enhancing infrastructure performance in the country including offline and online training programs.
  • The objective of the Capacity Augmentation Scheme through the proposed training programs is to upgrade the capabilities of the officers involved in the planning, implementation, and implementation of infrastructure projects.
  • So far this year, six training programs have been conducted in partnership with IIM-B Bangalore, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Infrastructure and Projects Authority, Foreign Office, Commonwealth, and Development Office, UNESCAP, All India Management Association, and World Bank. Nominations of more than five office bearers have been received.

Dholera Airport

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for the first phase of development of a new greenfield airport at Dholera, Gujarat at an estimated cost of Rs 1305 crore.

key points:

  • The project will be implemented by Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL), a joint venture company comprising the Airports Authority of India, the Government of Gujarat, and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust, in the ratio of 51:33:16.
  • Dholera airport is being developed with an aim to make it a major cargo hub to serve the industrial sector.
  • This airport will also cater to the needs of the surrounding area and will act as the second airport for Ahmedabad.

Wine bottle buyback plan

Why in News:

  • A month after the launch of the scheme to buy back old liquor bottles at TASMAC shops in the Nilgiris, the scheme yielded good results.

key points:

  • The scheme was implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu with the help of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC) with an aim to eliminate the dumping of used liquor bottles in forest areas and negate the dangers posed by them to wildlife.
  • Under this scheme, a provision was made to give 10 rupees to the returnees of old bottles for each bottle returned at TASMAC shops across the district.
  • Under this scheme, there has been a drastic reduction in the number of bottles thrown in the open across the district. However, the district administration and TASMAC are facing another problem as to what to do with the bottles deposited at the TASMAC shops in the Nilgiris.

  • The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Individuals) Regulations, 2016 as amended by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India.

key points:

  • A portion of Form GSTR-1, Form GSTR-3B, and E-way Bill, wherever applicable, along with the application filed under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code for Operational Creditors, 2016, currently under the new rules Presentation provided.
  • Sections 7 and 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Individuals) Regulations, 2016 have also been amended to ensure smooth correspondence for creditors in filing applications under existing sections 7 or 9 and it is necessary to submit the details of your email id and Pan Card.
  • The amendment includes the definition of a significant difference in valuation during CIRP that enables the committee of creditors to request a resolution professional regarding the appointment of a third assessor.
  • The new amendment also added a clarification on the issue of redressal applications filed with the Adjudicating Authority after the closure of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP).

The successfully test-fired short-range ballistic missile, Prithvi II

  • Prithvi II is the first missile to be developed indigenously by DRDO under Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme.
  • Prithvi II missile is a surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile with a range of 350 km.
  • Prithvi II is a single-stage missile that falls under the liquid fuel category and was first used by the Indian Air Force.
