2.  Word: Dormant (निष्क्रिय)

  • Pronunciation: dawr-muhnt/डॉर्मन्ट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. lying asleep or as if asleep; inactive, as in sleep; torpid
    b. in a state of rest or inactivity; inoperative; in abeyance
  • Synonyms: inactive, sleeping, latent
  • Antonyms: active, energetic, awake
  • Usage in a sentence: These investments have remained dormant for several years.

3. Word: Retract (इनकार करना)

  • Pronunciation: ri-trakt/रिट्रैक्ट
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. to draw back or in
    b. to draw back within itself or oneself, fold up, or the like, or to be capable of doing this
  • Synonyms: withdraw, revoke, rescind, recant
  • Antonyms: quick visit, extend, support
  • Usage in a sentence: When questioned on TV, he retracted his allegations.

4.  Word: Volatile (बदलने के योग्य)

  • Pronunciation: vol-uh-tl/ वालटल
  • Part of Speech: Adjective, Noun
  • Meaning:  
    a. liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse. (Adjective)
    b. a volatile substance. (Noun) 
  • Synonyms: erratic, unstable, fickle, changeable
  • Antonyms: stable, steady, permanent, durable
  • Usage in a sentence: The international oil markets have been highly volatile since the early 1970s.

5. Word: Gaffe (गलतफहमी)

  • Pronunciation: gaff/ गैफ
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: an obvious error or mistake
  • Synonyms: blunder, error
  • Antonyms: correction
  • Usage in a sentence: Because you are human, you are bound to make a gaffe every now and then.

6. Word: Blatant (ऊधमी)

  • Pronunciation: bleyt-nt/ ब्लेटन्ट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: (of bad behaviour) done openly and unashamedly.
  • Synonyms: flagrant, shameless, conspicuous
  • Antonyms: subtle, quiet, unnoticeable
  • Usage in a sentence: The whole episode was a blatant attempt to gain publicity.

7. WordPurview (दायरा)

  • Pronunciation: pur-vyoo/ पर्व्यू
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: the scope of the influence or concerns of something.
  • Synonyms: range, reach, realm
  • Antonyms: constriction, verge
  • Usage in a Sentence: These are questions that lie outside the purview of our inquiry.

8.  Word: Disconcerting (चिंताजनक)

  • Pronunciation:  dis-kun-sur-ting/ डिस्कन्सर्टिंग
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: tending to cause discomfort, uneasiness or alarm; unsettling; troubling; upsetting.    
  • Synonyms: unsettling, disturbing, embarrassing
  • Antonyms: soothing, affable, comforting
  • Usage in a Sentence: I found it very disconcerting to be in the function in which I was not invited.

9. Word: Robust (मजबूत)

  • Pronunciation: roh-buhst/रोबस्ट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: 
    a. strong and healthy; vigorous.
  • Synonyms: powerful, persistent
  • Antonyms: weak, feeble
  • Usage in a Sentence: The organization is taking a more robust approach to management.

10. Word: Burgeon (फैलना)

  • Pronunciationbur-juhn/ बर्जन
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: begin to grow or increase rapidly; flourish.
  • Synonyms: swell, explode, boom, mushroom, proliferate, increase, expand, flourish
  • Antonyms: dwindle, diminish, drop, fade, wither
